Southern Marine Surveys, We are passionate about boats

Southern Marine Surveys was established in 2010, initially serving the South Coast and Thames area, though a move to Dartmouth in 2015 allows us to cover an area from Falmouth to Chichester and Non Tidal Thames including Bristol, the Isle of Wight and in-between. I have been involved with boats over 40 years, I have worked in engineering, Technology Project Management, and have been involved with Aviation. The time came in 2010 to bring decades of knowledge and experience into the marine surveying world.

I attended the International Boat Building Training College (IBTC) in Lowestoft - a wonderful and greatly missed campus, and was taught by Paul Stevens (of the Yachting Monthly Crash Boat Test fame), and the highly regarded pairing of Roger Bell and Martin Evans. I had the honour of teaching on the survey course for a number of years.

Southern Marine Surveys offers condition and damage surveys, pre-purchase surveys and surveys to your requirements on request. Every survey I carryout is an individual service for an individual client, please don't hesitate to contact me to discuss your survey needs. 

I have a notable reputation assisting clients finding boats, and can offer a boat finding and model discovery service. Many models of boats from many builders have been built over the years, though a majority of builders are no longer with us. Information on older boats can be difficult to obtain. If you are looking for a certain type of boat within a certain price range, I may be able to help locate suitable models that you may not have discovered or considered. Having owned over 22 boats and having surveyed approaching 1500 boats over the years, I have some useful knowledge on different models.
